Network in Projects

Hi All,

When we create project by copying an existing project and define different project profile, project gets created with all the organization related data from new profile.

We observe that data like company code, plant etc in the new project definition, wbs is taken from new profile (organization data differs between 2 profiles except for controlling area is same), whereas in the network the organization data remains unaffected. Network shows data unchanged as per old project.

Why so?

Regards

Hi Shrikant,

You are right, Organizational data in the Network header remains un-changed, since it has no influence on the Activity assigned Networks. So you can change the org. data in Activity level.

Hi Harisha,

You can change plant at activity level, not the company code as it is greyed out. There is something which causes network to become uneditable (org struc point of view) once it is created. The answer to this question may be basic but it will be interesting to know that.

Rather simple. If you have a different company code, it is a different company. So would rather have to have an activity with external processing.

A company code specifies a seperate legal entity.

Certain field are given down from the WBS element to the networks and are not changeable.

Hai

The default data(network profile) comes from the project profile.

The data which you enter in the network profile is copied into the header, activities, and activity elements when you create a network. You can overwrite these values in each new network.

You enter the different values you need for the network profile in different Customizing areas.

When you copy a standard network, all data is automatically copied into the new operative network. When you copy an operative network, you can select which data you want to have copied into the new network.

The company code must belong to the assigned controlling area.

Can be changed? No; determined when the plant is created.

When you create or incorporate network, the value is taken from the project definition or derived from the company code in the WBS elements.
