Need to move database to new vm host running MSSQL 2014. Current solman is running MSSQL 2008. This is in preparation of solman 7.2 SUM upgrade.
We are using the MSSQL backup/restore option, ie. backup on old host and restore to new host. Having done this, Solution Manager comes up fine and is functional, however SUM is not successful withl the Java Stack upgrade. I understand that I may have to run SWPM > Software Lifecycle options > system copy >MS SQL Server > Source system export > Central > Based on ABAP and JAVA> Database and Central Instance Export. to get some Java SDM data in a file that I need to import with SWPM on the target DB host. This is not a true system copy as the sid remains the same and the ASCS and SCS remain on original host. Only database is moving.
Since Solution manager 7.1 SP15 is basis 7.02 (kernel is 722_ext Unicode) do I select the "SAP Netweaver 7.0 including EHP2' option or the "Solution Manager 7.1 Support Release 1" option? I understand 7.02 means NW 7.0 EHP2 or am I incorrect? What is the difference in those options?
Hello Mark,
unfortunately, in this Netweaver release you cannot move the DB instance only.
You will find this in the according system copy guide: "Copying only the database is not supported."
Find the document here.
The step you mention, "Database and Central Instance Export" is mandatory.
Kind regards,
Hendrik
