Export Database Question

Dear all ,

i could like to export the hope SAP Database (ex: SAPC11) into a new oracle database (use the same version). but i don't know how to do it . Has any one can help me or give me a suggestion ?

yes , i could like to make a system copy . you mean i can use sapinst to finish this case ?

HI,

If the target system is not live, u can use sapinst to export the db from suorce and load it in target..other way is backup restore method where u will restore the source bakup data into the target one..for this some steps are there to follow.

go thru the system copy guides available in SMP

Another question , could be use 'exp' this command to export a dump file when sap on live ?

Hi,

exp/imp is Oracle specific and is not supported by SAP and i never had an experience to it..also in sapinst u can export the db to any databases like oracle, mssql,informix etc..

Hi,

Firstly let me know why do u what to export the Database, if u r planning for a system copy, u can go ahead with runnining sapinst to export the db, for this stop the sap then run sapinst.
