Regarding Sap Kernel And Support Package

I am very New to the SAP Installation.

I Have one Doubt.

What is the Kernel????? And What is the Kernel Updation????

(From SAP Netweaver 2004S SR1 SAP Installation Export DVD)</b>

Q1) After the Installation Of the SAP PI 7.0 Should i Update the Kernel?????

Q2) After the Installation Of the SAP PI 7.0 Should i Apply the Support Package????

Q3) Which Support Package Should i Apply for PI 7.0?????

Please let me know all the Above mentioned
