Availability check for Configurable materials

Hi All,

Can somebody throw light on the way availability check functions for a configurable material. I heard that the logic is different for configurable materials while it is checking for availability in the plant.

HI,

For this configurable material u can maintain different characteristics and for this material u can enter different values for this characters at the time of creation of PO.

Actually in material master u have material class in this already lot of charcters are assign to perticular class .

So while creating sales order here u don't have to match only material availability but also the charcters of that material .

Even if u have that material but the charcters are different its off no use.

eg

Take a eg. of a car u can have different colour(charcteristics)

Hi

My question is exactly that.

Once the material is configured, how will the system find out when it can deliver the material. Will it just search for the default material,or will it search for material, the variants(values of characteristics) etc, or it will search for the material variant itself(material with correct configuration as configured in the sales order). The exact logic is needed as based on teh logic, I have to decide how to enable the functionality.

This will taken care automatically once you put the planning strategy 25 in the MRP3 view and availability check group in the same view.

for the order types you have to assign the checling rule in customizing.

Configurable materials are created to cover all types of material.

availability check is for material .
