Sending An IM

When I click on a name and attempt to "Send Instant Message..." a small window pops up and goes away, but I get no IM.

Hmmmm, I am guessing there is more configuring to do. Also when I click on the "Show Availability" I get "Availability information cannot be displayed; the calendar repository manager is either not configured or not activated".

If anyone has configured these 2 items please give me a heads up.
