Pilot Products - SEM Space replacement

Former Member

Dear Andreas,

As requested by you here are those questions for the benefit of others as well,

Appreciate to take care that Partner / Product Management add a statement to my questions. I also did send you an email link for the follow-up.

SAP indicates that the Pilot products will start taking the place of what SAP has developed in the SEM space but was unclear as to when this would happen. It also indicates that Pilot sits very well on top of other applications but didn’t have any insight into how well it works, and whether it would be incorporated into NetWeaver.

As a consequence any help in answering the following questions would be appreciated.

- What is the SAP integration plan and timeframe of Pilot Applications, especially as it relates to NetWeaver?

- How robust are the Pilot applications? Anyone with direct interaction?

- How well do the Pilot Applications integrate with other SW packages? Examples?

- Will all the Pilot applications be carried forward in the SAP product mix?

- How will licensing be handled for customers who have already purchased SEM?

Hope it Helps

Hi Chetan,

Thanks for your questions and interest in (formerly known as) Pilot products. PilotWorks, now known as SAP Strategy Management, is a comprehensive strategy management application that drives alignment between strategy planning and execution of strategy. It allows for the creation and management of strategy plans, management of initiatives used to drive strategic success, and scorecarding to monitor and manage performance in achieving your organization's strategic objectives. SAP Strategy Management replaces SEM BSC, although SEM BSC is still a supported product.

While SSM can access and leverage data stored in NetWeaver BW today (eg. ERP and HR data), the next version of SSM, scheduled for release in early 2008, will include tight integration with NetWeaver, including:

- NetWeaver Enterprise Portal, to allow users to access (via single sign on) and run SSM within NW EP portals

- NetWeaver BI, to allow users to leverage data stored in NetWeaver BI Info Providers and to allow users to leverage the performance enhancing capabilities of NW BI accelerator

SSM integrates with many other SW applications, most notably MS Office for export of data to Excel and Word. As well, Operational Reviews (or briefing books) can be saved as PDF documents.

New licensing is required for SAP Strategy Management.

Chris,

thanks very much. That was very useful. One more question: We have a client who has BW version 3.1 installed - which is from 2003 I think.

Does SAP Strategy Manager integrate with this version as well or would they have to do a costly upgrade to BW 3.5?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

In order to utilize the SAP Strategy Management (SSM) to NW BI connector, planned for the SSM 7.0 release, users will be required to have NW BI 7.0.

Nice compilation of questions. But I think its early for anyone to answer some of these questions regarding integration and time frame. But I hope Andreas sure does have answers for most of the questions.

Yes Voodi,I second your thought.

However,I talked with Andreas and he has agreed to forward it to the proper channel of the product management team and should be able to get atleast the Road Map.

Hope it Helps
