I too almost similar situation like you and tried to understand CO-PC . as per my understanding Product Costing has 3 major parts
1.Product cost planning ( Where all setting relating to planning are done. here understanding about Cost Component and Costing Varient is important )
2.Cost Obect Controlling ( Here config relating to actual flow of cost to CO-Pc module will take place , Here understanding about Result Analysis, Variance Analysis important )
3.Material Ledger/Actual Costing ( In the initial stages not advisable to touch this area , once familiar with the above to then this can be understand )
One more thing is before understanding above , its advisable to understand the flow of values with in controlling and from to other modules ( for this i found AC040 material is the best )
In the initial stages of learning product costing if you refer so many books etc may lead to confusions . So be learn specific topics first as mentioned above or as mentioned by other members.
I have mentioned above points with my very little experiece/ knowledge in product costing . Request Experts to rectify any mistakes or suggest any betterment.
