Apart from all those settings as explained by our guru's the most important

one is BOM Status should be active for MRP.

activate mrp for the plant,lot size,planning file enteries,float,mrp controller,mrp procedure,these are the minimum configurations for mrp.

If you are running MRP for the first time for a plant, The MRP activation OMDU should have been done before creating the materials for the plant.

Other wise there will not be any planning file entires. You have to run planning file entries Tcode OMDO

Hi

MRP views maintained in the material master are the basic setting for the material how to function.

Apart form that in configuration, check MRP plant parameters for the plant you are doing for, which you will come to know all the details of the planning.

Hope this would give you clear idea of how MRP functions

You should maintain BOM and Routing for the materials for which tou want to run mrp and requirements should there for material.
