Hi Manoj. Sorry it took me a long time to answer your question. Yes we did solve the retroactive accounting. What we did is we editted the V_T582A table.

We spaced out the areas in the Retroactive accounting trigger. It worked.

Here's actually our dilemma at the moment. We were running the payroll for this month. After the payroll processing, one of the message in the error logs is this "RA run too early for payroll area 20 Earliest retroactive accounting period: 2007 05 Retroactive accounting date for employee: 01/01/2007" We just want to know what triggered this error message? Also, what we cannot understand is that some of the employees that contained the same message were already tagged as "Leaving." We couldn't understand it either. We've been running the payroll for the past 5 years and what we've noticed is that every 2 years, the same employees go through the retroactive accounting during the payroll processing and they get negative net pays. I know our situation is quite complicated. But inputs would really be of help to us. Thanks in advance...

For the empoyees in question was there a payroll relevant Master data change( Bonus).. 01/01/2007? if yes, it would trigger a retro and that is expected.. But it looks like you had set the Earliest possible retroactive accounting period in control record of payroll area 20 as 200705, which would prevent the retro from going upto 01/01/2007.. this might be causing the error..

HI,

Are u people talking abt avoiding the retroactive accounting for a particular payroll run?

Though I dont set the fields in IT0003, the retro is automatically triggered when changes are made to the master data. So retroactive accounting is a part/feature of the payroll process which cannot be ignored.

VICKY... Am I right?

Hi,

You can deactivate by setting your control record to the month you are running. i.e. If payroll is running for May 2007, earliest retroactive accounting is set to May2007 for the control record of the particular payroll area. Check transaction pa03. Check with your finance people on this..
