DB02 "Alert Log" option missing

Former Member

Hello,

Could you please suggest how we can enable "Alert Log" in DB02 under below path?

DB02 >> Performance >> Additional Functions >> "Alert Log"

I cannot see "Alert Log" Option at this path.

Analysis done till now:

Same data as DB02 can be seen in ST04 and DBACOCKPIT

1546456 - DBACockpit: Remote File Access for some Oracle files >> Helps for accessing data after you see "Alert Log" option.

Data available in DEV and Production only QAS system is affected hence there is no issues with Support pack difference.

Thanks,

Deepak

Hi Deepak,

I adjusted the tags on your question slightly, adding that this is for an ABAP application server and Oracle database. Getting the tags right on your question is important in order to get it in front of the right people who can help.

It would be helpful if you could provide some more information in your question. For instance, what NetWeaver release are you working in? What release of Oracle are you using? Did you run the scripts suggested in the Note that you linked (1546456)? You mention that there is no support pack level difference in the QAS system that is affected when compared against the DEV and PRD systems that are not affected; what about an Oracle patch difference, or a difference in how the system was installed?

I suggest you edit your question to add this information, or otherwise add it as a comment upon the "answer" you provided earlier.

For more guidance on how to post questions that get good responses, have a look at https://blogs.sap.com/2010/05/12/asking-good-questions-in-the-forums-to-get-good-answers/.

Cheers,
Matt

Have you done any System refresh/ Patch update or upgrade for this system.

System refresh is generally yearly / half yearly activity. I am little unsure if that could be the cause considering data i visible in production.

Hi Deepak,

Check your "system configuration" on DB02.... make sure both systems match, there is some deprecated options that you can enable or disable that might give or take away functionality that have been replaced.

Checked and found configuration on both systems are exact similar

Are you using the same version of SAP kernel for QAS and DEV?

Hello James,

Thank you for your input but unfortunately it is not helping.

As mentioned in the issue description DBACOCKPIT also shows same data and no "alert log" option there as well.

Further I can see other options like "Bundle Patch" hence dbs_ora_Schema should not be an issue.

Thanks,

Deepak

Hi Deepak,

Please check whether via dbacockpit can locate "alert log".

Please also the environment variable dbs_ora_schema, whether it is the upper case like:

select username from dba_users

Hi Deepak,

I suppose dbs_ora_Schema is the same case with "select username from dba_users".

I advise you to raise a chat/ticket to SAP support.

Best regards,
James
