Greetings SAP Gurus,
I am trying to find a solution for the following business request.
Our sales orders contain mechanical product, and batteries.
Today, both products end up on the same delivery, but we need the batteries on a separate delivery.
So the desired outcome is that user executes VL01N for an order, and the delivery would then only contain the mechanical products; it would skip all battery items.
Then user repeats VL01N for same order, and that second delivery then contains the batteries.
We do not want to create separate sales orders for the batteries, meaning, our sales orders will continue to be a mix of both products.
Can Delivery Split Criteria somehow help? If yes, could someone provide the basic config steps? Or any other thoughts how I could make this work?
Thank you in advance; feedback most appreciated.
Kind regards,
RVS
Hi Typewriter TW,
Thank you for your feedback. It's a good suggestion that I will look at further.
The batteries and mechanical parts will physically ship together, but require different paperwork. Which is why we want the batteries to appear on their own, separate delivery. So each shipments would consist two deliveries, each with their own paperwork.
Thanks,
RVS

Hi typewriter TW,
No need for separate trucks. But the deliveries with batteries require different treatment during picking, packing, and preparing for shipping (e.g. paperwork, licenses, etc. ).
The solution I ended up with is to create a Dangerous Goods Profile indicator, which I maintain in Basic view of battery material master. I then use that DGP indicator in delivery split criteria.
Thank you all,
RVS

From a business POV, by having batteries and mechanical parts in different SAP deliveries, does business want to transport these product groups in different trucks? Why?
Thanks! TW

Both you and G Lakshmipathi have mentioned about Delivery Split criteria.
For batteries have a loading group and for mechanical parts have a different one. In turn, setup both loading grps to determine different shipping points.
There is no need for a new dedicated delivery type for batteries.

There are certain parameters based on which delivery split will happen automatically and this topic has been discussed en-number of times in SCN and please search with the related text so that you can take more inputs.

Thank you G Lakshmipathi for your feedback. The problem is that there are too many discussions on the topic of delivery split; almost 1600.. 😞
Thank you, G Lakshmipathi
