How to monitor BI & PI using Solution Manager 4.0

Hi, we have installed Netweaver 04S SR2 SP11 BI & PI components. We want to use Solution Manager 4.0 to setup monitoring for these 2 systems. Any guide or documentation will be greatly appreciated.

I have been following the tutorials & they are very helpful. Here is what I have done:

1)Create the system in SMSY

2)Create RFC detinations, tested & they all work.

3)Assign logical components.

Now when I go to SOLUTION_MANAGER & look at my project & try to setup earlywatch, I get a blank white screen with no options on it. As per the tutorial, I should have buttons "Create Service" and "Move Service" but I have nothing. No buttons, no text, just a white background.

Have I missed anything? Also how I post screenshots here?

I deleted everything & recreated everything from scratch. Create a solution > create system > create RFC , setup SDCCN & it worked. I can see earlywatch.

As for system monitoring, I can setup monitoring but when I come back to SOLUTION_MANAGER nothing works, even when I refresh, it says "Action Canceled".

Please help me on this. 1st of all I tried to download the SAP Tutor play, but don't know where to download in order read the .sim file from your URL. Most important things I am having hard time with steps to complete from scratch to end I mean On sulution manager 4.0 setting up the alert monitor for CRM5.1, BI & XI/PI with send eMail & pager all yellow & red alert. I searched almost all places but did not find exact process except this thread with your tutor really great.

It's urgent, and given 40 hours to complete the ABAP & Java Monitoring with Database, Operating System using CCMS agent.

I will really appreciate your help.

Hi Arshish,

To setup monitoring you will first have to include these systems in the system landscape of SAP solution Manager 4.0 in transaction SMSY.

The steps in the order are :

1. Create Server ( Server name ,IP and Fully qulaified Host name)

2.Create Database (Give the database you are using)

3.Then you have to create the system itself. and give the information as required.You will be able to do it when you will go through it.

Then you have to generate the RFC's from solution manager to satellite systems and back.These RFC's have to be trusted.Assign role SAP_S_RFCACL or profile S_RFCACL to the users in SOLMAN as well as satellite system.

Follow these steps and create a Logical component for the system that you have added.
