Block shipment based on regulatory status (RoHS)

Hello,

We are on 4.7, and have just recently purchased Netweaver 2004s, and plan to deploy Portals and BW in the second half of the year.

We are struggling with regulatory requirements and the EHS module.

A product may be eligible for shipment to California, but not to Oregon. Or a product may be eligible for shipment to the US, but not to Europe. We have been tracking the RoHS status in an external application, but as we move toward managing multiple regulatory requirements, we would like to move to SAP, or to the external solution from TechniData.

However, I haven't seen any documentation on how we can use the data to block shipment of products based on their regulatory status. Can anyone provide guidance as to what standard functionality in SAP is best-suited for this purpose? Is it the dangerous goods module of EHS?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff Knowlton

Hi Jeff,

a late response to your question, but maybe it is still helpfull...

The SAP solution you might be looking for is SAP REACh and Product Compliance for the discrete industry (SAP RC DI) which handles apart from other regulations like the REACh SVHCs, JIG, GADSL also the RoHS.

The solution would allow you to calculate and track regulation dependent compliance statuses based on your product structures and used basic materials (including exemption handling for RoHS and classifications for China RoHS). The solution is fully integrated into SAP (interfaces to MM and PP).

Maybe the biggest strength is the supplier collaboration which allows you to track compliance statuses of supplier parts (evaluating the purchasing info records or AMPLs).

The requirement to block the shipment is not part of standard SRC DI. But from my point of view the bigger challenge is to keep compliance statuses in your system up-to-date. I am pretty sure that the blocking of a shipment can be implemented as a customer specific SD user-exit in a second step.

Best regards,

Andreas

You can use the DG module for storing the DG master data for these materials for various required regulations. You can be able to control the transportation of these goods by mapping them with the modes of transport with the LE module.
