SUM Tool - JAVA Stack Waiting for SUM Event (Unable to Reset Upgrade)

I would need some assistance on how to force-stop JAVA Upgrade Process since its not allowing me to RESET the whole procedure.

Let me explain the situacion.

A Solution Manager 7.0 EHP is being Upgraded to Version 7.1 SP14 and during DDIC Activation, some objects could not be activated even after many retries, since there was no documentation about these objects, decided to continue and see if Upgrade would end properly, Sadly in Downtime phase it got stuck in TABIM_UPG phase so I would need to revert upgrade to before Downtime phase, and from there restart the whole upgrade, and try again.

So, restored a backup and SUM files, and Upgrade is back again before Downtime Phase

At this time ABAP Stack is able to be resetted but JAVA is showing "Waiting for an ABAP Event) so Im unable to reset this stack. It seems to be waiting and Sync with ABAP Stack after I enter Downtime, but since I dont plan to enter Downtime, I need to stop it.

So, I would need to know how can I force JAVA Stack Process to stop and let me reset Double stack Upgrade.

I am facing the same Issue .i want to reset whole my procedure.

But the tool is not allowed could you please let me know the resolution.

Hi All

I am able to reset the upgrade, please follow below steps.

go to path SUM\sdt\config\usecases

please modify the SWITCH.XML file like below

Please replace below line

<action name="execute" canrevoke="false" canInvokeReenter="true">

With this below line

<action name="execute" canrevoke="false" canreset="true" canInvokeReenter="true">

then execute below steps

  • 1. Stop the SUM tool completely

    2. Make sure there are no running SUM processes. This is important in order to have SUM to take the following changes into account.
    3. Take the modified file from the incident and replace the original one that is under SUM\sdt\config\usecases

    4. After this is done, start the tool again and try to reset the upgrade from the menu.
