Creating File System Repository and Network Path

Former Member

Hi, I am working on windows on both side.

I have created a File System Repository linking the portal to a network drive:

Description: Aegis3

Prefix (must start with /): /Aegis3

Lookup mode: exact

Root Directory:

Aegis3

Security Manager: Not set

ACL Manager Cache: Not set

Windows Landscape System: KM Windows System

Then I have created a Network Path:

Description: Portail sur Aegis3

Network Path:

Aegis3Portail

Password: **********

User: commercial

My first question is: I get an error when I go to the Component monitor: "Startup Error: host is unkown in file path '

Aegis3' - invalid network path:

Aegis3"

What was wrong in my configuration?

Notice that I didn't forget to restart the servlet engine.

My second question is: do I have to create an other network path if i want to acceed to

Aegis3Utilitaires ??

Thanks for your help, I¨have checked the SAP help and the forum answers, but I couldn't find a solution to my problem...

Have you tried an IP address, or put an entry in the Portal's host file for this server? Could it be that the portal cant resolve the server name?!

Could there be a Firewall somewhere in your infrastructure that is preventing access to the naming service on your network (WINS or DNS) ?

With the IP adress it is the same. There is no firewall, I am working on the local network. When I ping Aegis3 or its IP, it works without any problem...

Can the root directory be the root of the server ?

Hi Thibault,

The look up mode for your rep . manager is exact . So please

verify whether name is proper in terms of upper or lowercase .

You could also try giving lookup mode caseless.

Pls try and get back.

When I first set up my file system repository, it was in caseless and didn't work. So I tried to change it to exact and it didn't change anything.

Can you try giving the same path in network path and root directory

of rep manager. Could you also check the trace file for a better description

of the error.

With the same network path and root directory, the error message is still the same.

How can I check the trace file ??

Thanks

Is it a Windows 2003 server ?

Netweaver 2004s is on 2003 server, and the network drive I want to acceed is on win 2K.

I have changed the host name with the IP adress but still don't have any effects.

I wonder if I can really create a path to the root directory. Maybe I need to specify a subdirectory of the drive. What do you think about it ?

My path is declared such as
192.168.1.3 wouldn't it be better //192.168.1.3 or //192.168.1.3/ or
192.168.1.3\

I really don't know what I can do....

I would try a sub-directory next, as you are thinking:

what happens when you put in? :

Aegis3\Portail

for the root

The Problem is that is
Aegis3\Portail is my root, I won't be able to connect to
Aegis3\Administration !! Except if we move Administration to Portail.

This is what I am trying to do...

It worked... this is what I had done first !! But it wasn't what I wanted to do.. I guess I do not have any other choice... I'll have to move my administration folder...

Thanks for your help !!
