Restricting the Key figures which are dates in Query

Hi Experts

i have a requirement where in my query i have

Project No Status Planned start---Planned Finish (both the dates are key figures)

Now the user says that he need to be given an selection option where say from and to dates so when he selects the report should display the values of the entire report in between these dates

how can i create a variable which will be based on planned finish date and report displays only those project no and status with planned finish dates between the given selection.

I tried restricting the key figure planned finish date with calender day but its not displaying the values of that column but displaying all other things.

thanks and regards

Sreedhar

    Hi,

if your planned start and planned finish are key figures, you will have then to create a condition based on these KF.

One question: is AND or is this OR: user enters range; shall the report display all data when

    1. planned start in range AND planned finished in range?

    or

    2. planned start in range OR finished in range?

Start creating the following condition in the QDesigner:

    - new condition (all char in drilldown)

    - New; select planned start KF / Between

    - check variable entry for the from and to

    - create two vars (plan_from and plan_to

    Run and check the report.

Depending on the AND/OR question you will have either

    - to add a new filter in the same condition

    - create a new condition

    for planned finish criteria.

As a first step user will have to enter 4 values. If it works we can then implement exits so the user only enters two...

    hope this helps,

    Olivier.

      Hi Olivier,

Thanks a lot i am working on get a char as date, mean while i could not understand you last reply that to find out which date value is getting populating this 0calday,

i don't have 0calday in my report but i actually have a char in my cube which is standard one and its getting populated from one key figure which is having this date. so by using this char (which is of date type) and i think its referencing to 0date , and i am using the variables which are standard and available on this char.

      thanks and regards
