material transfer issue

Hi All,

Client has two storage locations- 1000 (Inside the plant premises) and 2000(outside the plant premises).

If there is not a sufficient space in SLOC 1000, the client instructs the vendor to deliver goods at SLOC 2000.

When it is required to bring the goods from SLOC 2000 inside the plant premises, the client makes arrangement of transporter.

The transporter is paid the freight.

How to map this scenario ?

How to book this additional cost of freight into stock account of that material?

regards

Hi,

The main problem you have is that you have used a storage location for the external storage building. This should have been a Plant.

You have now limited your options, if you had used a Plant you would have many more options available via the STO functionality.

If you are going to continue using a storage location instead of a Plant then there is no way to link the freight back to the material master.

You could try to use an STO and add conditions to the item for the freight but this is not normally done for storage location to storage location STOs.

thanks steve,

we cannot make plant for the storage location that are outside- the reason being there is not one SLOC that is outside, but there are 11 sloc that are outside the plant and in future that will increase. this is the limitation.

ok , as explained by you if we cannot post the freight to material account, then how can we post this freight.

thanks and regards

I agree with stephen u need to create those storage location as plants and then u need to create STO for that and u need to use 351 movement type for that

Hi,

If it is one or 11 or 111 then plants should still be used if you want to get the most out of the available standard SAP functionality.

Yes you will have more master data to maintain, but how often do you maintain master data? Occasionally. How often do you do GRs, issues, transfers, POs, stock counts etc? Hundreds of times each day.

I realise that it may be too late for you to change them to Plants now but it is important for others considering this option to realise that you can block off useful functionality such as you require, by having storage locations where plants should have been used.

Have you tried creating an STO and adding freight conditions as I have suggested?

Any other solution such as creating a normal PO for the freight cost will work but this will not post the costs to the material stock account, as you have requested.
