Transfer in decentralized warehouse

Hi gurus,

We are implementing Decentralized WM, ERP system is a SAP system and WM system is a non SAP system.

We have the follow issue: materials are managed by batches and when we try to do a 311 one-step transfer from Stor.Loc. to another one within the same plant using MB1B t-code, batch number is mandatory. Thing is we want to enter the batch at the WM system since user don't know what batch number will be transfered.

We tried to send a generic batch but when outbound delivery gets confirmed with a different batch number (the one read from the bar code of the label) batch is not getting update in R/3 system.

We are using SHP_OBDLV_CONFIRM_DECENTRAL04 base type to confirm delivery.

Please advice.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

PI.

Hi Avik,

Thank you for your reply.

According to SAP documentation it is only possible to change the following data at ítem level of Outbound Delivery:

  • Changes to outbound delivery item data
    • Gross and net weight
      • Volume
        • Delivery quantity
          • Delete delivery item (only using interface)
It looks like Batch Number is not changeable. Do you think it will work if I active Change Management?

By setting up Distribution Model properly, do you mean to add OutboundDelivery.DeliveryChange?

          Best regards,

          PI.

          Hi Pablo,

Thanks for your Reply. Based on my limited experience in DWM scenario in Manufacturing and in IS-retail I am trying to help.

I could recollect in Manufacturing we had batch management/Batch split etc.complex scenario and DWM used to work there, however many custmization(code) was also in place, but that is long back so my memory is a bit hazy.In recent past in Retail space I am certainly doing OBD change using DWM (unfortunately we do not have Batch management in Retail )->However,for any change at OBD level , active Change Management is a must pre-requisite as you have already noted from SAP documentation. So it is worth giving a try.Specially same document describes below:

          • Note
          • In order to be able to execute work steps in one of the systems without affecting the other system, you can change fields in the delivery other than those named above. However, there is no balancing out between the two systems.
          • This is the case, for example, if you change invoice-relevant data in the central ERP system that is not relevant for processing in the decentralized WMS, or if you change the header text or item texts in the delivery.

To enable this function, Distribution model set up is crucial. We faced recent issues when this got messed up and IDOC

->SHP_OBDLV_CONFIRM_DECENTRAL would post Success but no change reflect in Delivery qty.

To set Change management active-> go to SPRO--> (I assume you know the path and have done this task already)

          Now go to BD64

Add the following methods to the distribution model in the central system via the ALE Customizing:

          • InboundDelivery.DeliveryChange
          • OutboundDelivery.DeliveryChange

Receiver determination is very important. I hereby attach exact setup details from my landscape. Please have a look and apply your judgement.

Your Central system(ECC) and DWM system should recognize each other via logical system name for seamless communication.

          Regards,

          Avik

          Hi Pablo,

Did you get time to try out the above setup and check the system behavior?

Also,BATMAS for batch master can be used or for the matter of fact some custom message type to reduce data load replication with little customization. I am sure there are EXIT/BADIs to update/sync your batch record into ECC which is scanned at WMS .

          Regards,

          Avik

          Hi Pablo,

In a typical DWM scenario potential cause of this issue is configuration setup.

Can you please check whether the delivery document( Header) Status is distributed and Change management flag is active or not?

If Chaange management at Header level is not ticked,.then the WMS posted changes will not be replicated/updated back into ECC.

In this scenario Distribution Model needs to be properly setup to enable this flag.

          Regards,

          Avik
