Automatic Account Assignment in COPA

Hi SAP GURUs,

Certain automatic psotings like, changes in inventory valuation, inventory differences etc are taken to COPA.

I was told that the Profitability Segment is updated based on the characteristic information on the FI Document.

We do not give any characteristic values in the FI Document as it a automatic posting.

Kindly let me know how does this happens.

Right answer will will be rewarded wuitably with points

Best Regards

Surya

    Hi

The system gets the characteristics value from the entries only. Like you case of Inventory valuation, the profit center is derived out of material master plant is derived out of the posting through your entries, company code is also derived according to the assignments of the plant to company code. Main thing is the org elements and profit center these can be easily derived based on the entries as explained above.

    Hi,

The characterstics are the company code, business area, plant, customer, vendor, material, product, etc...

As you know we made lot of assignments or links in the system w.r.t above characterstics.

So when we make postings atleat some of them are used and also based on assignements within the system it would create a profitability segment.

    Hope it helps you.

    Regards,
