Hi All,

My company went live with Inventory Management in ECC on Oct 2016. Therefore, we have data residing in ECC for less than a year. Also, the frequency of revaluations done in the company is very minimal.

Now I need to implement IM in BW.

I am aware of the standard flow of loading the 3 extractors provided by SAP into the cube.

However my question is that: -

1. Do I need to implement 2LIS_03_BX extractor? ( As there is less than a year data )

2. Do I need to implement 2LIS_03_UM extractor? If yes, should I load it in the same cube as my BF data or can I load it in seperate cube? ( As I need to create new fields in the transformation while loading BF )

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

1. Usage of BX data source depends on business requirement.

I am giving here couple of scenarios based on non-HANA BW version to give you an idea about the data sources only.

Business Requirement 1: ECC contains history data which is less than an year old ( let's assume it's 11 months old) and business requires Inventory / Stocks data for the last 9 months only.

In this Scenario, extract initial Stock balances(operational Current stock) through BX datasource and compress with Maker update then extract last 9 months of historic data using BF & UM datasources and compress without Marker update as we got opening Balances using BX data source here and it's one off load for BX.

Business Requirement 2: ECC contains 11 months of data only and your business requirement is to load entire historic data into BW. In this Scenario you can achieve this in 2 ways:

Option A: you can omit BX datasource and load only BF and UM data sources (entire data) using BF and UM datasources and compress with Marker update which gives you opening balances. (Or)

Option B: Same as Business Requirement 1, but you will be loading entire historic data.

2. UM datasource extracts the revaluation data which means that it contains only value changes, no quantity changes. So again this is specific to your business requirement.

You need to check with your business whether they want revaluation data in BW? Yes of course, you would need to load the data to the same infocube.

Hi Ayyappa,

Yes, you need to load both UM and BX to the same InfoCube. Once it's done and the compression happens, data for delta/historical stock movements will be partitioned accordingly and moved to the correct DIM's. Please note the values wont be visible in LISTCUBE. Use a BEx report to compare between ERP (MC.9, MB5B etc.).

Please comprehensive description in

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for the answer.

However, my doubt over here is that is it extremely necessary to implement BX extractor. ( Due to the less data volume ).

I had read somewhere that if we implement the delta for BF correctly, then we may not need BX. Please correct me if I am wrong.
