S/4 HANA BP and MDG ERP Vendor like UI Integration

Hi,

We are implementing embedded MDG9.0 on S/4 HANA 1610 and ran into a situation where ERP vendor like UI is meets the business needs but I have not seen lot of documentation explaining the integration with MDG vendor to S/4 BP. If you happen to encounter similar situation can you help with below questions...

1. Can we deploy ERP Vendor like UI on S/4 embedded MDG? are there any technical limitations?

2. How does MDG to S/4 CVI integration works? I understand there is only one role category for ERP to S/4 CVI but S/4 require two categories in general, FLVN00 and FLVN01?

3. Can you highlight the key business drivers for ERP vendor like UI and Supplier Like UI

Thank you,

Shankar

Hi Experts,

One small question. Lets say we have ECC and not S/4 and we dont use BP concept. Can we use the Vendor LIke UI for Customer and Vendor without CVI or BP concept? Actually, we will not use BP now but later BP will come into picture. So I was thinking if we can use the BP UI only from now without creating a BP.

Thanks,

Saikat

Hello Shankar

With standard CVI set-up, you can use the vendor like UI. But as suggested by Michel, it is useful to go with BP if you are using S/4 HANA. In my case, I am not facing any issue BP UI and able to create vendor as well.

Hi Shankar,

S/4 simplifies the backend in a way that only transaction BP is usable for backend related maintenance of customers and vendors. The BP is always required. The same is true since years for MDG. Of course, MDG offers the "ERP Like UIs" to hide the complexity of the BP. But you should ask yourself if this still makes sense if the complete backend is built upon the BP? From a technical perspective, it is still possible to use the "ERP Like UIs" even in S/4, since technically those UIs create the BP, too. But from a business (user) perspective, I'd doubt that this still makes sense?!

Kind regards

Michael

Thanks for your response, Michael.

Agree with you that with S/4 in place it is ideal to use Supplier like UI so that rest of the business process is streamlined.

Assuming, business would like to use ERP Vendor like UI in S/4 HANA 1610,

1. Is it required to configure CVI (to convert MDG vendor to S/4 BP and Vendor)?

2. If yes, could you please provide the roles that are need to be configured for CVI (similar to FLVN00 and FLVN01) (Note that when I tried to set up this config system is displaying message "unique role" assignment required, I am assuming in this case only one role need to be configured in CVI)

3. If no, in S/4 how the data is mapped to BP? (I believe CVI is required)

Thanks a lot in advance.

Regards,

Shankar

Hi Shankar,

S/4 requires exactly the same steps as common SAP ERP.
