Multiple variants and multiple steps in the same job

Hi guru's please help me in this regard

I need to schedule and automate batch jobs in an organisation. There will be multiple variants and multiple steps within same batch jobs. The variants are date dependent and needs to change every day.I need to automatically change the variants every day and schedule the jobs. Also check for the failures in the jobs. Apart from that Once the jobs in one server example : R/3 server ends the jobs in BW servers should be triggered automatically. Explain all steps with proper T codes and also provide a dry run example. Also provide all the table used for the variants purpose.

So please let me know How can I multiple variants and multiple steps with in the same job.

Your help would be more appreciable

Regards,

Rk.

    Hello RKK,

While most activites like mutiple steps, dynamic variants etc. are possible through standard SAP functionalities this thing isnot pretty simple :

R/3 server ends the jobs in BW servers should be triggered automatically.

I mean this might be possible to do through events but I will be pretty much complex. I mean you could write an event which will be triggered at the end of job in R/3 and then may be will will trigger another event in BW system which will start the job in BW. May be your ABAP folks can guide you better on that.

Otherwise I guess the best thing to do is to have a third party tool like Redwood-Chronicle,UC4 etc.

Regarding your question on how you can have multiple variants and multiple steps with in the same job.

It is pretty much simple. At the time of defining the step you can create mutiple steps. Create one step, save it and then create yet another one. It is pretty simple.

    Please award points accordingly.

    Regards.

    Ruchit.

i do not think so it is possible using SAP background job scheduler.

You may have to use third party job scheduler for this, there are may third party tools available like Redwood. you can search this in help.sap.com

Create different batch jobs with different steps.

Schedule job internally or use third party tool like Control M, Redwoods etc.

    Thanks,

    Anand.
