TIME CHARECTERSTICS in ODS

Hi friends,

i have one doubt.. that in Info Cube level we have Time dimension, there we can take Time charecterstics... but in ODS level there is no seperate TIME DIMENSION, So, in ODS level is it not mandatory of time charecterstic. ?

if it is mandatory means how we can take that...
