i am using idoc pordcr101 to create a po. i have an agreement number for the po that i am creating. I am trying to create a new po using a number that i assign for that po. is this a possibility? or does it create its own po number
thanks in advance
Hi,
Defining number range comes under SAP functional configuration.
but try below tcode
OMH6 - Define Number Ranges
or just go through the following link
http://www.erpgenie.com/sap/sapfunc/purchasing.htm
Cheers,

Hi Janice,
When you create a PO, SAP R/3 automatically generates a number ( If the BASIS has configured it to be so ), you cannot specify this number but u can specify its range.
PO number can be created externally if the configurations allow external number generation,
Hence the Profile of the user must be such that he/she is allowed to set PO number ( check your config. )
In case, a PO already exists and you have specified that same number, then your newe PO request be update the existing.

i am actually on a test sap system doing research work. so no need to worry about current business.
i go into omh6 and i can see several intervals that have X in the column for EXT which i assume means external
the po's that are getting generated currently are in the 45000000000 block and there is no X in this column
what do i need to do to to start generating po/s in a different range that has an X in it
I tried to generate a po in one of these other ranges and i get document number not in defined interval.
where to i go to change the interval that the po's are using????????
thanks for the great direction
