Adding new char to CDP class in PPDS

Experts,

Found Note 526883 regarding inconsistencies in Block Planning/CDP. We want to add a new characteristics to our CDP class & use it to peg orders to the blocks. While I know adding the char & using it in APO CDP-Block Planning is easy from a master data standpoint, I think it is fraught with a lotta risk.

1. What happens to existing Blocks

2. What happens to existing orders

3. Impacts of making this characteristic a Requirements characteristic for demand

We want to reserve capacity within a given block for more specific markets. We looked at Capacity reservations & it doesn't meet our needs.

Any clues would be helpful.
