Hi ALL,

I have a query regarding --

1. How documents can be archived in KM?

2. In KM, can we restrict the download functionality? I do not want to show the download option. I think this is possible. But need more detail.

3. If user downloads the document from KM and edits it locally, is it possible that the change should be updated in KM without upload. ?

1 I think only space in a repository is a problem

2 and 3You can edit permissions in Settings -> permissions. There you can switch to "read only" the files. If you want changes documents you have the Actions->edit locally option.

More dificult it´s to edit the KM iview-> Details View but more flexible.

I hope its helps

I am not sure by what you are saying.

I our situation we use file system repositories. Files are moved into that folder (Windows) are then can be viewed by the user.

Hi Radhika,

1. How documents can be archived in KM?

As such there are no command in KM for archiving. The only solution u can do is to move the document to some other folder( folder wich will b used to store archived doc).

2. In KM, can we restrict the download functionality? I do not want to show the download option. I think this is possible. But need more detail.

yes, u can do this.for this u have to modify the command list used in ur layout set.

3. If user downloads the document from KM and edits it locally, is it possible that the change should be updated in KM without upload. ?

NO. the reason is wen u edit the doc locally, it is stored in temporary file on ur local server and locked in KM and is locked until u check in again or cancel the local editing.

Hope this will help u.

Amit

P.S. reward points if helpful

With my portal the users are all external coming over the Internet.

To load the documents I create a repository and lock it down. The external user only has read rights. But, even then as a rule of thumb, if the user can see it, they can save it. I do not think there is an option that you can restrict that.

In my situation, having all of the users as customers over the internet, we do not want them to be able to save to the portal incase of virus or malware. But I know that there is a way for the user to be able to save back to the portal but, the doc must be uploaded by the user.

Your situation may be different. If so, post it.
