Hi,

We have created a Query CDS View and we are able to see data in HANA Studio and SE11 just fine. But when we are trying to access that view through Design Studio through Local Mode we are able to access that view in datasource but on editing the initial view it is giving error "Failed to instantiate the datasource" and it's showing no data.

Even created a OLAP connection in IDT and when accessing that view in Design Studio it is still giving the same error.

Please let know stepwise how to consume Query CDS views in Design Studio or any applicable note/KBA is there.

warm regards,

MV

BW An, SAP has a wiki for Design Studio S/4HANA including Simple Finance here:

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=447464889

It's quite extensive; I recommend starting there

Hi,

I am not entirely sure if CDS views are supposed to be or can be consumed directly in Design Studio (via the HANA HTTP connection). The recommended approach I'm aware of is to consume through a BW BEx Query on the Transient InfoProvider which is automatically generated for CDS views, as described in the post: Expose CDS Views to SAP BW BEx Query Designer.

Mustafa.

Hi,

BW is not available in the landscape. BI( BO ) is available. So we are looking to consume query CDS view to Design Studio.

thanks and regards

How are you using HANA in your landscape? Are you running S/4HANA or do you simply have a standalone HANA database?

Hi,

It's Simple Finance.

If it's Simple Finance then that should include an embedded BW system which you could use for consuming the CDS view.

Unfortunately, I do not have a HANA system to reproduce your issue on but perhaps others can confirm if direct consumption of CDS views in Design Studio is possible without the need for a BW Transient Provider.

Hi Mustafa,

We have installed Bex query designer and able to open our view cds, but it gives the following error :

-Query ( 2C* ) cannot be edited in Query Designer ( Transient ).

-The request Query / does not exist in the current server.

-Components 2C* (version A ) does not exist in the database.

What could be the reason ? We have reactivate the view and still same issue.

Hi BW An,

Based on the documentation links Tammy has provided, I am under the impression that the BEx Query needs to be created over the CDS Transient Provider and not the Transient Query. Based on your error messages it sounds like you are trying to edit a Transient Query in Query Designer and this apparently is not permitted. Can you make sure you are selecting a Transient Provider in BEx Query Designer?

In addition to Tammy's suggested documentation, you may also find the following relevant for analysing your issue:

https://blogs.sap.com/2016/10/12/abap-cds-views-reporting-tools/

Did you try testing your 2C* provider in transaction RSRT?

Mustafa.

Hello - there is a nice FAQ note that I recommend you review: https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2450286/E and another wiki in addition to what I posted above: https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BI/OT-TransientObjects

If these do not help, I recommend opening a SAP Support ticket. Another idea to try is to see if Analysis Office can consume the query

Good luck

Hi Tammy,

Yes we are planning to open a SAP support ticket, we have checked everything on our side.

Many thanks,
