Calculating Metrics using Characteristic Values

First let me preface my question by saying I am a financial professional not a developer. I am trying to accomplish the following:

I need to calculate a large amount of business metrics involving the quantity / activity of specific characteristics as global. As an example:

Personnel Costs divided by Treatments.

I have setup a Restricted Key Figure for Personnel Costs with the Key Figure - Activity. I have created a RKF for Treatments with the Key Figure - Quantity.

I have then built a CKF - RKF Personnel / RKF Treatments.

It seems unreasonable to have to setup every characteristic, in this case ACCOUNT, as a RKF to make an calculation on the result.

Am I missing something here? If this is the way it has to be done, I will have over a thousand RKF to build.

Thanks in advance for any advice / help you can provide.
