PATCH DOES NOT FIX IE7/SAPGUI PROBLEM

Former Member

Hello, I have been fighting with getting sapgui and ie7 to work correctly together. The main issues are empty "cannot display the webpage" panes inside of se80 and other transactions. There have been other people have this problem and everything I'm reading says that patch level 20 of sapgui 6.4, or the base release of sapgui 7.1 will resolve the issue. I was already running sapgui 6.4 so I installed patch level 25. Did not fix. Uninstalled sapgui 6.4 completely, installed sapgui 7.1, did not fix. Installed the support patch for sapgui 7.1, did not fix. What is going on here? This is a very widespread problem, and these patches are supposed to fix it, but the problem remains. I have to keep executing /nse80 around 10 times before it will randomly work. If anyone has any info about this, I would defenitely appreciate it.

Hi Mathew,

I tried gui 6.40with patch 25, 6.20 with patch 68 and both did work fine for me.

May be you can try this. Un-install gui, delete the folder SAP in c:\Program Files\ delet thee registry entryfor SAP fronend.

Then install SAPGUI 6.20 which is avilable in the markeet place with patch 23 and apply patch 68 then after. This should work. Or if you want you can install 6.40 also with patch 25 now.

Just a day before I created around 15 CD`s with the patch update for all my clients and it is working fine.

P. Kumaravel.

Hello and thanks for the reply. I have searched the service marketplace and only see a patch level 24 for sapgui 6.4. I'm sure I'm in the right place...Is there a special place you have to get it?

Will award points for response.

Hi there,

Although rare, the problem can also occur after Windows Update

or after you import a Security Update Patch for Internet Explorer.

The HTML control files which include SAPhtml.ocx, SAPhtmlm.ocx

and SAPhtmlp.dll are all updated with the latest frontend patch.

Check the default install location C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui

If you are not able to apply the latest SAPgui patch just yet then

the latest version of the SAP HTML controls must still be re-installed

to resolve the issue. Extract these files from latest SAPgui patch

using WinRAR and re-apply and re-register them on the workstation.

Hi Mathew,

Which patch level are you looking for?

If you are looking for the presentation CD of SAPGUI you can download it from

<b>https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/installations</b> in that select the following hierarchy:

<b>Installations and Upgrades" -> SAP Frontend Components" -> SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS" -> SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 6.40.</b>

Download the GUI and install. Once done, if the patch level is lower than 20, please download the patch level 24 from <b>Support Packages and Patches" -> SAP Frontend Components" -> SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS" -> SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 6.40</b> and run the exe file.

Further check the below note:

Note 535308 - How to apply a SAP Front End patch?

Do revert for further clarification.

I could fix exactly the same problem (cannot display the webpage) by applying <b>SAP Note Number 738927</b> - HTMLViewer: moniker protocol is disabled in WinXP SP2

Before applying it SAP Gui 6.40 and even 7.10 did not work. Now it's fine.

Good luck

Hi Matthew Paul, I have a problem in SE80 and search solution in SDN forum, then I found that you met the same problem before and solved it finally.

I have read Note 738927 - HTMLViewer: moniker protocol is disabled in WinXP SP2, but still don't know what should I do.

Can you please give me some suggestions? Thank you!

Mu,

This note is actually a basis patch -- it will need to be applied to all systems (DEV, QAS, PRD) -- This is not any thing local to your computer, but rather a patch that needs applied on the server. If you have a basis team, send the note to them and they should know what to do with it.

Hello Matthew,

What u said is true.

The IE7 problem is to some extent resolved with sapgui 710. But some othe rproblems are there relating to transfer to excel files etc. The sap notes are somewhat silent in this regard and the only suggestion we get is to update the patches. This also dont resolve the problems completely.SAP might be working on this and some more patches fixing these are expected. However we should raise oss messages in this regard so that they speed up process. Asking for a solution at the SDN and simultaneously an OSS msg will defenitely lead to faster and a concrete solution.
