What could cause the removal of a hierarchy node in the article's basic view?

We had an article maintained with its hierachy node in the basic view of the article master. The entry was in table:

WRF_MATGRP_PROD

The node was then removed from the article master and needed to be reinstated

Is not logical, you can enter in the MM43 basic data, go to Environment -> Display changes. Maybe a user changed the data masters.
