BI Statistics comparision with the old

Former Member

Hi Experts,

I am trying to use the Query monitor to get the stats of a query the below are the things i am looking for

1. What is the time taken to get the first view of the query

2. How many records does this get from the DB and how many it transfers

3. whether it uses the Cache or not.

Before in the older version we used to have everything in a clear manner like query read time..but in the new stats i think everything is divided into events and steps

How do i know which event corresponds to my need or do we call it a step ...i am a bit confused after reading the help also, i will be happy if some body can explain me the new stats comparing with the old one.

thanks

Sreedhar

Hi,

You should install BI Admin Cockpit cubes.

For details, you can go through the note 934848.

The relevant cubes will be 0TCT_MC01, 0TCT_C01 and 0TCT_VC01 for your requirement.

You can go through the link

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/e37f8a6df402d3e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm for more details.

Hi Rajani,

Thanks a lot for the information, so we can't make it from the RSRT and one more question when i am trying to install the BI Admin cockpit its pointing me towards portal...do we require protal integration for having BI admin cockpit.

Hi Sreedhar,

First you need to install whole content. Check note 934848 version 17,run report

RSTCC_ACTIVATE_ADMIN_COCKPIT in dialog mode and replicate the data sources as 3.x data source. Once content is installed in the system deploy business package in the portal stack and connect backend system to portal.

You need portal to view Admin Cockpit.

All the steps are listed in note 934848.

Hi Sreedhar,

If you want to see statistics information in RSRT2, you can choose 'Execute+Debug' and check the checkbox for 'Display statistics Datsa'.

Further information is in the link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/e37f8a6df402d3e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm.

Then you can see the statistic information for that query execution.

For your other question, yes, you need portal connection to see the monitors built on techinal content. This you will get by deploying the business package which is mentioned in the note 934848.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Hi Rajani,

As advised by you i have run RSRT with Execute + Debug mode but as in older verision its not so simple, i think they have increased the detail level by having time read for each event and can you kindly tell me what is the event to give me the response time of the query, like how much time it takes to display its first otu put on the screen.

I have read the help but i couldn't make that much (sorry i am a slow learner) about the events becoz i couldn't relate much...

thanks and regards
