Hi,

I am using attribute type variable. And I have gone thro forum and few hoe to guide.

Still it is not working

I have Material as base char.

Segment as an attribute.

As segment is an attribute i am not populating in T cube.

Now I want to have segment dropdown box (zsegvar) in Web. I am not sure how to use it in the planning level.

As per the how to doc, I followed the attribute selection of the material, new pop up window shows, but there is no option to enter the attribute variable ( it is not available).

Please guide me

Thanks

Billy

Billy,

Attribute variables do not work on the web, so you need to use an exit variable. You don't need to have your attribute segment in your level defintion but you need it as part of your T-Cube.

Now you create two variables one for Segment (user-defined) and second for Material (exit derived).Once user selects Segment, your exit would automatically filter the Material variable with a list of Materials that are valid for user selected Segment. Now user would select whatever Material they want to Plan on and continue with their planning. You can always populate Segment using your Char Rels.

By doing this you will have both Segment and Material as dropdowns in your variable selection and Segment will not be in the layout.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Billy,

Sorry to miss the word NOT in my previous post."Also, you can populate segment value thru characteristic relationship, but if you just do that, you can not see segment in the layout"

Without having a characteristic in the level and layout, i am not sure whether you can bring them in the web interface. If you wish to just deirve segment, thats what I explained thru a characteristic relationship.

If you wish to see segment in the layout, segment has to be in the cube physically. All that you need to do is to keep segment in the cube and keep it in the level and layout, either in the header or lead column. You need to need to load master data for segment. Anyways, you need to do this.

If you go thir route, you dont need a variable of type attribute.

Also, you can populate segment value thru characteristic relationship, but if you just do that, you can see segment in the layout.

All depends on the requirement. Let me know what you wish to do.

Hi Ravi,

Thanks for the reply.

I don't want to see the segment in the layout. But I want to use the segment and material as the dropdowns in the web page.

Thanks

To use in the layout, the characteristic has to be in the level. SO, bring segment in the level and also in the layout.

Hi Ravi,

Ok, I will bring the segment in the cube and in the layout. That mean I have to populate the segment in the cube.

If I populate the segment data in the cube, even i can use the char type variable.

But I will be missing the attribute facility. I mean if we change the attribute maping in masterdata, i need to reload the cube.

Please advise me.

Thanks

Billy
