Hi All,

We are doing a inventory implementation in SAP BW on HANA 7.5 SPS4.we have created a calculation view for master data and we need to join the transaction data with master data in separate calculation view but we are not able to find the non cumulative key figures in external view of ADSO.

Can you please help us in this regard.

Hi Prasad,

Consider using cumulative key figures instead on non-cummulative key figures. That way, you don't have to worry about quiet time for the 2LIS_03_BX. Just use the _BF and _UM extractors.

Inventory can the be summed for any point in time by selecting time range (Beginning of time through Desired Date)

2LIS_03_BX can still be used for creating point in time snapshots (at month end, for example)

These snapshots cannot be used to tie to general ledger, in materiel movement documents are "back dated".

We used same extractors only but in our scenario

We have generated the external hana view using the inventory cube type ADSO.and we designed the master data in Separate calculation view and we need to join the external hana view generated by inventory ADSO with master data view in one calculation view and upon that created composite provider after that we will create BEX query in our scenario.

but after changing the parameter RS2HANA_VIEW_SET = X the non cumulative keyfigures are not enabled in view.

Can you please suggest on this.

Non-cumulative key figures are not supported in external HANA views generated for an infoProvider, However you can generate external HANA views for a BEx query if the underlying infoProvider is exposed to external view before. But there are several restrictions especially on time characteristics (Pls Check this SAP Note : 2032830)

Thanks for replying but in the same note 2032830 they have given as

Enable NCUM key figures in HANA view

For SPS8:Add the following row to the database table RS2HANA_VIEW_SET: {OBJECT = RS2HANA_SUPPORT_NCUM, VALUE = X}

For higher than sps8:Automatically enabled.

Can you please help on this.

Hi there,

As you are on BW 7.5 on HANA, I believe you are on the latest revision of HANA... hence no changes are required. But you can always check the current value of the parameter in the table RS2HANA_VIEW_SET and if a change is required you can follow SAP Note: 2252122. Please note any change in table RS2HANA_VIEW_SET should only be done by system administrators.

Going back to your actual question, when SAP HANA views are generated, BW data is published to SAP HANA. These SAP HANA views point directly to data and tables that are managed by the BW. When a query is executed on this generated SAP HANA view, the data is requested directly from SAP HANA, without the BW system being addressed. Non-cumulative key figures are calculated during query runtime, they are not physically stored in the fact tables. ADSO with Delta Capabilities act as an infocube. Generation of SAP HANA views from the BW system has been implemented as an interface for standalone data marts which are suitable for few scenarios only.

Whether you generate an external HANA view for a BEx query or not, it is part of the metadata of the query. It is maintained in the Query Designer in the Eclipse-based BW modeling tools (check the setting in technical properties of the query under Remote access to find the name of the generated view for that query metadata) and use it as per your requirement.

Hi Prasad,

The following restrictions apply for your scenario:

Non-cumulative numbers are only supported in the SAP HANA view for queries

As you are generating HANA view on top of ADSO which is an infoprovider, your BW log should be able to give you more info such as... your non cumulative KF is skipped/only cumulatives are supported)

Looking at your comments, it seems you are implementing the design delivered by someone else? If that's the case go back to the person responsible for the technical design and tell them you are facing the constraints of generated HANA views and take it from there.

The concept of generated HANA views is only suitable for special scenarios. As I mentioned earlier, you can generate/use HANA view based on BEx query created on top of ADSO (which supports Non cumulatives, but again that is subjective to your technical design).

To test the Non Cumulative key figures availability in HANA views, create a simple bex query with non cumulative KF's (if it's a greenfield implementation or use the existing Bex query if you migrated to HANA) and generate a HANA view for query and check it.

I created the BEx query which includes non cumulative keyfigures but its giving error like

External SAP HANA view: No characteristic without structure or key figure

External SAP HANA view: Unsupported time restriction for non-cumulatives.

I have created the bex query and selected the external hana view but data preview of that view is showing zero values but query was displaying data perfectly.

Is there any settings need to be checked.
