Can not delete entry from a customized table

Former Member

Hi, all:

Some developer asked me to give him permission to change a customized table in our production system. Management has OKed that.

I have opened all possible options in SCC4 and SE06, it did not work. I assigned SAP_ALL profile to his ID, still did not work. He could only see the display option in SE16.

He was able to make changes in another customized table.

Any idea? Thanks!

Hello Lei,

Check this In Se11 enter the table name and then go tab strip Attirbutes. There I guess the check box Table Maintainence allowed may not be checked. SE16 maintainence is allowed only if this check box is done.

Next thing is go to table maintainence generator and check if it generated. If it is then maintainence through SM30 will be allowed.

Please award points accordingly.

Hello Lei,

Even if you set the prd system to modifiable via scc4 it will not allow you to delete and will ask for an access key. This you have to obtain from service.sap.com.

If it is a customized table and you r sure of the relationship with other tables then try deleting from sql prompt.

Hello Manas,

To maintain table entries access key aint required. It is required ony to maintain the table structure itself.

Thanks Ruchit,

But why i am under this impression is that onc it was requires to delete some rec in a ztable in our system. I tried it in dev and could able to delete but while in production it asked me for a dev access key. I got the key from service.sap.com and then i was able to do the deletion.

There might be some diff i failed to mark.

Hello Manas,

There is difference between development access key and object access key first of all. To change an SAP object you will need an object access key. To create any z or customername space object for eample report, table etc. you will need development access key. You are confusing development access key and object access key.

Also for z tables object key is not required.Only dev access key is needed. And certainly for table maintainence no key is required. Otherwise how would end users maintain those tables in case they have to ??

Hi Lei,

I think you need to generate a object key to modify a customized table. For creating the object key, login to service market place --> SCCR leys --> Register objects.

This is done to keep track of which user has changed the objects in production.

My suggestion is , even if the management gives OK signal to change in production as an administrator you should not allow the developers to tinker directly in prodcution system.

Test the changes in Dev or QA system by creating a change request and then move the transport request to PRD if it is confirmed by the dev and apps team.

Award points if it clears your query.
