Lower/Uppercase in Material Master on release 3.1I

We still run an old 3.1I system and I've been asked if it's possible to have Material Descriptions in a combo of uppercase/lowercase in table MAKT, instead of everything being in uppercase.

Changes are done via MM02 but after typing in lowercase, text is translated to uppercase.

Is it possible, and is it a good idea or will it lead to problems?
