Cust. Client Copy - your experience of objects not copied

Former Member

Hi,

Scenario: We're doing a client copy from the prod client to a new quality client. The option customizing is used because of the size of prod client and we're testing a third party tool for later import of smaller pieces of transaction data.

While doing this one of the things noticed is that SAP scripts are not copied across. What I would like to know is from your experiences what else you found is not copied. I've read all the related postings but they all go back to the OSS notes that I also read, the trouble is that the information in them is general and doesn't give us specifics like this scripts problem we found.

Your experiences with this please.

Thanks,

Pedro

Hi Pedro, what objects are actually not copied to the target client? is it only SAPscripts(accessed thrgh SE71) or only SMARTFORMS (sometimes is referred as SAP scripts also which accessed through tcode SMARTFORMS) or both object type?

SE71 obj is client dependant and SMARTFORMS is cross-client obj. I think because your profile is customizing only, SAPScripts might be copied but not with other scripts/smartforms. Other objects which is cross-client customizing or obj might not copied as well such as SCC4 cust, SM59 cust, printer definition, etc. Can you double check this?

Hi,

So far the objects we discovered weren't copied were only the SAPscripts. All the other customizing you mention was copied (printer definition, SM59 etc.) My question is are there any others that I might be missing?

Thanks for the help with the Scripts transport.

The copy with all data was already attempted and it was way too big and failed.

The main question that I have is what else might not be copied accross when using the Cust option for copy. We already have the tool that claims to export only selectecd, smaller pieces of transaction data, and the apps team will start testing soon. My copy is done for their testing and I'm just trying to know what else apart from Scripts might cause me problems.

HI,

Do a client export/import method.it will generate the transport requests which should contain the sapscripts and in the quality you can import it...also use SAP_APPL profile for client export, which contains the application data and the customizing one...if the size request is too big exclude some tables before client export..Plz feel free to revert

Kind Regards
