Adding on to what has already been posted:

1. The Data Manager can also perform imports. However, the source needs to be structurally aligned to the table.

2. The Import Server automates the importing of data. Structural and value mappings need to be setup and saved before using the Import Server (do this with the Import Manager.)

3. AFAIK, the batch mechanisms (batch import and batch syndicator) are due to fall away in SP05. Functionality on ports will be enhanced to fill the gap left by the batch mechanisms.

hi gopi,

apart from the above mentioned ways, u can also use XI in between to import the data into mdm...

XI specifically comes into picture when u wanna import data from R/3 systems in the idoc format..

also the types supported by import manager are:

1) access

2) excel

3) xml

4) oracle

5) odbc etc..

Hi Gopi,

We can import data into MDM using the following techniques.

1. Import Manager - SAP MDM Import Manager for data harmonization

2. Import Server - SAP MDM GUI Client Import Manager for bulk uploading of data into MDM,

3. Batch File Execution - .bat file can be used to import bulk data into MDM.

4. SAP MDM Web service

5. SAP MDM APIs
