Error1 when loading using PC file in 2004s

I am trying to load a simple file(3 fields) all of them are char and getting an error message"Error 1 when loading external data" when I try to do a preview. I re-created the same InfoSource/DataSource in the sandbox and its working but couldn't get the same file previewed/loaded in the dev box. Any inputs, please ?
