Hai all,

1. Where I can check the safety stock? How I can move the safety stock to unrestricted location?

2. How we will configure the Third party returns?

Hi Keyur,

Safety stock is used to meet the demand of ur production during the replenishment lead time + unforeseen excess consumption during this period than planned. It is used to plan your timing of generating POs/PRs. Why do u want to move this safety stock? It does not mean a physical stock kept somewhere else. By specifying the safety stock ur ensuring that there is no hamper to the production with advance planning.

i think this clarifies ur doubt.

Hi,

You can maintain Safety Stock Availability % i.e. the % of safety stock which u can use in planning .spro- mm-cbp-planning-mrp calculation - stocks - Define safety stock availability.

Hi,

Also you can define if the safety stock is to be used or not in the availability checking config.

Basically you are keeping safety stock for emergency use and so you would not want to take sales orders against it. The availability check for sales orders has the safety stock flag set off so that it is ignored.

Then when you want to create a delivery or do a goods issue and you find that some stock has been damaged or gone missing, this is what safety stock was designed to be saved for and so the availability check at delivery and goods issue can have the safety stock flagged as useable.

In transactions such as OMCP you will find the opttion to use safety stock or not when you define your checking rule (which is basically a combination of the transaction and the material (the Availability check field on the material and the checking rule from the transaction etc.)

The standard settings are normally fine and ensures the correct use of safety stock and so it is unusual to need to change these to allow the use of safety stock in other transactions such as order entry.

If you wanted to force through a sale and use some safety stock (on a VERY rare occasion) then you could drop the safety stock figure in the Material master and enter the order, then change it back again immediately. But someone may "steal" the stock in between you changing the safety stock figure and placing the order.

Hai Dipak,

1. I am maintainning the safety stock as 100 in MRP View in MM. So I had the stock of 150 and If I create the order for 60, the system is only confirming for 50 and the remainning 10 it is not confirmed.

So for urgent requirements to meet te demand shall we use safety stock ?

Hi,

I believe you are using reorder point planning . There is some thing we called reorder level . This along with some other couple of other parameters like max and min level and lot size comes into picture at the time of MRP run .

So sit with your logistics guy and ask them at what level you want to keep your safety stock and recorder level b'cos its totally a business based need and there is nothing as such hard and fast rule that you should keep some fix amount of quantity for safety stock and recorder point stock .

Hope this clarifies you .

Thanks

Hi,

Safety stock you maintain in MRP view of MM . There is no way you can move you safety stock to unrestricted stock . Safety stock comes into picture in case of MRP . This is the stock which you keep in your store to meet yoour urgent requirement and if your stock level goes below this you need to initiate stock procurement process to replenish your stock level .

For Third part returns pl go through this link .
