Hi all,

I'm trying to understand the use case for "Planning Model" in SAP Analysis (Excel UI) Analysis Plugin (Planning tab in the Design Panel)

I see an obscure reference that this was to support a user’s ability to write data back to a database (BW) for BW-IP.

Also in the Analysis user guide I see this is a requirement to set Work Status from Analysis.

Is there any further information on this, when/how else to use it or is it simply for the above?

Hi Jay,

AO has two fields: Design Panel, Tab Planning

1 System for Data Write Back

i.e. the system used to store the BW-IP (PAK) planning data

2 Planning Model

This is a combination of the technical names of BPC Environment, BPC Model in case the system in 1 also uses BPC; the model to be used has to be of type BPC Embedded (i.e. it uses the BW-IP (PAK) planning engine. Only when the planning model is set in AO, the system knowns about BPC feature, e.g. BPC Work Status.

Thanks Gregor, that helps.

Is then the only use case for BPC Work Status, or is there any other use cases for the Planning Model in Analysis?
