We have the following requirement:

we have a TU with 4 deliveries for the same ship-to-party. Each delivery has one item with material A and 60 pieces. The full pallet quantity is 80 pieces.

We want to pick now 3 full pallets of 80 pieces from the full pallet area instead of 4 times 60 pieces from the picking zone.

Is it possible to realize this and if yes how?

At the Moment i see just a 1:n relationship between delivery item and wave item and a 1:m relationship between wave item and WH task.

Thank you!

Hi Florian,

Addition to Juergen and Hendrik

I believe you can achieve your requirement using Wave Picking( No 2 Step Pick )+ Combined Picking with ship-to-party .

Just an example.

1 > Wave released with 1 WO with multiple tasks based on ship to party. Source Bin or source HU with multiple WHs to full fill picking requirements.

2> Combined picking

Source Bin and Source Hu use for Combined picking and also check the combined picking with consolidation group in config. Also It can be handle exception.

Hope it will work to meet your requirement and will try this in my sandbox.

Kind Regards,

Ajit

....not sure about your Setup but in case you start with SD orders you can Combine them to one single delivery based on ship-to Party (e.g. VL10).

You will still have different ODO items but might want to investigate on combined picking Badi in order avoid multiple confimations (

https://help.sap.com/doc/e1b595d97c17411dad7bcf1408ec9d67/9.4/en-US/Release_Notes_EWM_94E.PDF).

Might still be challenging to achieve a full HU removal but these are the only idea I have at this point.

Thank you first of all! But - no chance to change delivery creation on ERP side. I have to consolidate either the wave items or the WH taks.

Hi,

"We want to pick now 3 full pallets of 80 pieces from the full pallet area instead of 4 times 60 pieces from the picking zone."

No. How should that work? You want to pick 240 pieces. Now during picking you find only 230. Which of the outbound delivery items should be reduced?

You can use two step picking to reduce the number of accesses and then the system would at least give you three pallets in the first step and you split them in the second step (https://help.sap.com/saphelp_ewm94/helpdata/en/b4/cecb53ad377114e10000000a174cb4/frameset.htm) (but this only works so nice in your example), or use the combined picking feature described by Hendrik (https://help.sap.com/saphelp_ewm94/helpdata/en/c0/aee25620dc122fe10000000a441470/frameset.htm).

But the combination of sales orders in deliveries is always the better thing. Why does everyone believe that the warehouse has to be able to correct the shortcomings in sales?

Thank you first of all!

"No. How should that work? You want to pick 240 pieces. Now during picking you find only 230. Which of the outbound delivery items should be reduced?"

It does not matter which one is reduced. All stock belongs to the same ship-to-party. What we expect is just a combination of the required quantities splitting the total amount into x full pallets plus a remaining picking quantity (less than one full pallet). So i would expect a WH request with the Tasks of the full pallets and one request collecting the picking tasks. At the moment the system triggers the replenishment of 3 full pallets from full pallet to picking area where the stock is picked afterward via 4 Tasks of 60 PC. I don't think i have to explain that this solution causes a lot of double work.

"Why does everyone believe that the warehouse has to be able to correct the shortcomings in sales?"

Who believes that? I just said it is not possible... the explanation why is not relevant and quite complicated.

Hi,

"It does not matter which one is reduced."

Well, it does to the delivery items. There is not logic in it which one is reduced. So that is why there is not standard function for this.

That is why the combined picking function mentioned above, only works exactly to that point where there is no short picking. In the moment where the picker finds not enough quantity, he has to open the individual pick tasks and confirm them one by one. Because then he is making the decision which delivery item is reduced.

"I don't think i have to explain that this solution causes a lot of double work."

Yes, I believe that. But again, shortcoming in sales ;-)

"the explanation why is not relevant and quite complicated."

You are correct, for me it is not relevant. Which part to solve is more complicated, that is your decision.
