Hi All,

I have a requirement to populate the data in characteristic of batch in Date Format.

But the data type of characteristic is numeric.

how can I achieve this via Dependency Editor, or if there is any other way.

Thanks.

Isn't this exactly the same question that you posted with much better input here https://answers.sap.com/questions/214215/index.html and that you just closed without any reason?

You can't. A characteristic can only have one type of format. If you attempt to change it and find a way to sucessfully do it, you'll put at risk all previously recorded data for the characteristic. I..e, if you change a numeric to a text, the data is stored internally totally differently so you wouldn't be able to look up a value recorded as a numeric.

The best I think you can do for this is to set the characterisitc as a "Character" format with unformatted entry. Then you can enter in a number as 46.444 or a data as 12/03/2016. But the dependency would have to be responsible for doing ALL data verification and checking, like making sure the dates are valid, making sure any numbers are properly rounded to the expected decimals, etc.. because as text, anything could be recorded in the characteristic.
