How to clear logs (SAPMMC and Backup History)

I have installed SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP Trial Version (incl. Web Dynpro ABAP) and now I am trying to understand how to clear some information.

1) how can I clear syslog from SAP MMC?

2) How can I clear Backup History files from Data Base Manager (MaxDB)?

I know that this information are stored in files at the operating system level:

dbm.knl and dbm.mdf.

Can I delete or edit this files to keep some information or is there a better procedure?

Thank you very much for your time.

Kind regards.

    Hi franco,

To clear sap mmc logs u go to sapmmc->file >options >disk cleanup.

To clear Maxdb log files u can try this

    dbmcli -d ... -u ...,... db_admin

    dbmcli -d ... -u ...,... -uUTL -c util_execute clear log

    thanks,

I know that information are stored on these files, but I am searching for a clean method in order to purge those entries on these files so that Backup History can show, for example, only the last month or the last week.

I don't know if such method exist or not but seems to me very strange that the only chance is to delete or empty these 2 or 3 files.

      Cheers.
