Schedule Project using Project Template, cProjects 4.0

Hi All,

I have a requirement of Scheduling a Project using a Project template. This template will be loaded with the duration for phases & tasks, along with the task-task relations.

When i choose this template & create a Project, the earliest & latest dates appear automatically. But i need to select it manually in order to make it appear in actual dates. Is there any work around available to make it happen automatically?? This feature is not available in standard feature but any hints on going for custom based modifications??

Helpful answers will definitely be Rewarded!!!

Sujay G

Hi Sujay

When you create a project from a template in cProjects, system caculates all dates for all tasks, phases etc starting from the current date and taking into consideration the duration and relationships between tasks.

As far as actual dates are concerned, it comes into picture only after the project is released and confirmation of work is started for tasks.

Hi All,

I think i was wrong in putting the question properly.

Using a template if i create an operative project, the earliest & latest dates will be displayed (Display mode). If we want to use those dates for start & end dates of a Project (Constraint dates), we have to click on "Determine dates (Earliest/latest)". Only then the dates will be transfered. What i want to know is, can this be automated? Instead of clicking "Determine dates" on each level, can't it be done at a Project level alone & the dates at the lower level (Phases & Tasks) gets automatically. All the durations will be predefined in the template.

Hi Sujay

Probably you are talking about constraint dates. Well, constarint dates have to be put manually in each cProjects object (Project/ Phase/ Task), only if requires. System works on the calculated dates which you can see in the earliest and latest dates fields.

However, you can try using the BAdI: DPR_ATTRIBUTES

Hi Sujay,

Beside the Badi method, you can do it using the related BAPI method\function, for example BAPI_BUS2175_CHANGE for task. It should be not complicated to realize it with a small report, but the disadvantage is, it is not integrated in the cProject application.

Hi Sujay,

I am not 100 percent get the question.

Is it right, that you create an operative project using a template. The earliest& lastest dates get calculated and then displayed at Phase & Task etc. They can never be changed manually. The actual dates depends on the status, only after release can be inputed, as far as I know.

Please let me know, what you exactly expects.

Kind regards,

Hi Ramakrishna,

Thanks for your reply.

My scenario goes like this;

I will create a Project template where i'll define durations for Phases & tasks, with relating tasks accross the phases. Now, while creation of the project using this template, the system considers all the durations at various levels & gives me the Project end date (Earliest & latest dates). I want to knw if there's some way, where i can schedule the project automatically (Which means, the actual dates gets populated automatically assuming the current date is the project start date).

I do not want to schedule a Template. I want to schedule a Project which would be created using a template.

Hi

Iam unaware of the scenario why you wanted to schedule a Template in cProject. As per design Template is to facilitate the standardisation of project structure and creation of operative project in less time. By default Schedule Button is disabled in Template structure.

If you wish to see the schedule in a template, I can suggest you to create a simulation version directly from Version Tab Page. Simulation supports entire functionality of an operative project and essentially the scheduling as you desired. The project Number series is also different than operative project.

Once simulation is satisfactory, you can copy simulation to an operative project. Operative project can be used as a reference to create template.

Iam sorry if your scenario is different than this

warm regards,

Ramakrishna
