Overselling Warning at Order Creation

Former Member

Hello, business have a request as:

A cetain material (say MMM) can be produced only 10000 (say) qty in a year. When creating a sales order for 250 (say) qty. It should automatically consume / deplete from the predefined 10000 leaving now 9750 qty. Orders should keep on coming till this quantity gets completely depleted. When ever the order qty is more than available qty (not yet produced but will be produced) the order creation should flag an error as "quantity not available". What config needs to be done ? Any help / ideas would be appreciated. Looked at ATP but no success till now.

Note this is at order craetion process on quantity not yet existing/ produced.

Thank You

Deb

I have not had this issue but I'm thinking there are a few options. First there is an Availability check against product allocation. (In IMG you see 3 types of availability check: Avail check with ATP, Avail check against prod allocation and rule based avail check.) I have not used this myself but it looks to be exactly the answer that you are looking for.

Using regular ATP it would depend on how you plan the product. You definitely would need to limit it to just the "10000" parts. So I would think if you say create reservations or production orders for just that quantity through the year and then limit your ATP check to ONLY that transaction then I would think your ATP shouldn't confirm the order when you reach the end.

Also, have you checked consumption of say planning materials? Possibly if you do planning based on planning materials and limit it I would also think you would get some sort of warning.

These are just a few thoughts off the top of my head. Good Luck!!
