what are all the prerequesites for creating Item Categories, plz teel is necessaru to create new item category , std are given by SAP

Hi,

You cannot add new item categories and you should not need to.

Item categories affect the way that the PO is handled such as D for service brings in a new set of data at a different level. Subcontract, third party, limit etc. all have major affects on the PO process.

So if you were to add a new one how would you get the system to handle this? what new process would it use?

If you could explain why you think you need one we may be able to offer an alternative suggestion.

The item category controls the below item level item details(be it a PO or PR ) .

So better way not to think of this .

You can explain your case so experts can get involved .
