We have an employee who has a council tax order who didn't get any pay in April 2017. In May 2017, the pay for April was paid as a retro payment on top of their pay for May. The council tax has been deducted against the total net payment received in May (April + May) and therefore they have been deducted a large amount (@17% of their earnings). My question is, shouldn't the net figure be split out over 2 months and the council tax order be deducted based on the split amount? The difference between what would have been deducted separately (in April and May) as opposed to one period (May) is about £400 in this instance.
