I'm researching CAD functionality,
I can't seem to key in on the proper search terms.
i'm looking for documentation defining material master "material types"(ie roh,halb) from the CAD desktop solutions.

you refer the documentationn of document change management here you will find the all documentation related CAD as well as you can activate funtionaliuty to use CAD in SAP material master.

Hi,
The material type controls many things but the most relevant is which views you get to maintain.
For instance if you choose FERT (finished product) you get access to maintain the production data related views.
If you choose ROH you don't (normally) get the Sales views etc.
So if you make something choose a material type such as FERT or HALB (semi finished product so you can buy or make this).
Each material type can be configured differently to the above and so there is no hard and fast rules.
Other things that are controlled by material type are number ranges and which valuation classes are relevant (i.e. which accounts willbe used).
