reporting in Bex

Hi friends,

Material no Material name Storage location Plant

these 4 fields i have....

i want to get input from the user in BEX Reporting .... so i created a variable for that and got the fields but i want to validate the fields as we normally do in ABAP .......

I dont know where and how to validate the fields......
